Prime Minister of Lebanon’s Caretaker Government Stresses Necessity of Ceasefire in Gaza

Prime Minister of the Lebanese caretaker government Najib Mikati emphasized the importance of reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and stopping the Israeli aggression targeting southern Lebanon.

This came during Mikati’s meeting with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

In statement carried by the Lebanese National News Agency, Mikati affirmed Lebanon’s commitment to international legitimacy and the implementation of UN Resolution 1,701 in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

He called for the international community to pressure Israel to stop its daily violations of Lebanese sovereignty by land, sea, and air.

On his part, the US Secretary of State underlined his efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for humanitarian reasons, alongside addressing the hostage issue.
