President of Public Prosecutor’s Office Takes Part in European Regional Conference

The King’s Advocate General at the Court of Cassation, President of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, El Hassan Daki, led a Moroccan judicial delegation to the 1st European regional conference of the International Association of Prosecutors, held in Istanbul from May 2 to 5.

This conference, organized under the theme “effective investigation in the era of digitalization”, addressed, during three days, several topical issues, including “the emergence of digitalization and its effects on criminal proceedings”, as well as the impact of the second protocol of the “Budapest Convention” on economic crimes, said a statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office on Friday.

The conference also addressed the issue of the lack of legitimacy of digital evidence and the effectiveness of the fight against economic crimes in the era of digitalization, especially crimes committed with cryptocurrencies, their use in money laundering, as well as the challenge posed by these cryptocurrencies in financial investigations, the same source added.

In this regard, the conference addressed the current use of artificial intelligence (AI) in criminal proceedings and criminal liability in this context, as well as the results of the use of this AI in criminal proceedings, the prosecutor’s office said.

In parallel with the work of the conference, Daki held meetings with the Turkish, Counselor Bekir Sahin, and Bahraini prosecutors, Ali Bin-Fadhul Al-Buainain. He also visited the Istanbul Palace of Justice.
