The State of Palestine called on the United Nations Security Council to shoulder its responsibility to stop the constant Israeli aggression against Jenin and its camps in the West Bank and act to implement the relevant UN Security council resolutions immediately, including resolutions 2334 and 904 and all other resolutions related to the protection of civilians.

This came in messages delivered by Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations Riyad Mansour to the United Nations Secretary-General, President of Security Council for this month (UK) and President of the United Nations General Assembly in which Mansour urged them to exert efforts to help alleviate the grave situation and urgently act to mobilize the UN capacities to ensure protection for the Palestinian people.

In his messages, Mansour pointed out that the Israeli occupation forces infiltrated Jenin refugee camp with over 1000 soldiers backed by fighter jets and fired artillery shells and live ammunition resulting in martyrdom of nine Palestinians among them three children and several injured civilians, in addition to destroying many homes and civilian infrastructure, adding that the occupation forces cut off electricity and water which exacerbated the humanitarian conditions further.

The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations stressed that such a grave escalation of the situation on the ground requires a prompt action from the international community, calling for serious and urgent efforts regionally and internationally to stop this blatant Israeli aggression.

He called on the International Criminal Court to accelerate its investigation in Palestine with the importance of holding all perpetrators accountable, including all political and military officials and Israeli settlers for their crimes and prevent further crimes against the Palestinian people.

Mansour stressed the Palestinian people’s right to protection in accordance with the international law, including the humanitarian law and human rights law, in addition to the Palestinians’ right to defending themselves against the unlawful, inhuman, and colonial assaults carried out by the apartheid regime.
