Omanis Cast Ballots for Shura Councils 10th Term Membership

Muscat, Omani voters began Sunday casting their votes to elect their representatives for the membership of the Shura Councils Tenth Term, through the “Intakhib” (Elect) electronic app.

A total of 843 candidates, including 32 women according to the final candidate lists, are competing to be elected among the Shura Council’s 90 members. Voting process will continue until 7:00 pm today.

The Shura Councils Tenth Term Elections see the participation of 75,690 registered voters, among them 13,843 who already cast their ballots abroad.

This electoral event for the tenth term marks a momentous occasion with the launch of the second version of the “Intekhab” application, introducing innovative features and enhancements.

The Omani Ministry of Interior provided more than 12 electronic election services, including a discussion forum and various election-related services such as preliminary and final candidate lists, preliminary and final voter lists, checking voter registration in the electoral register, and monitoring automatic sorting indicators on election day. The application also provides statistical data showing the voter turnout percentage in each governorate, as well as the age and gender demographics of the voters.
