Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, on Wednesday welcomed at Dar al-Fatwa the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, who congratulated him on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Dar al-Fatwa’s media office reported that discussions between the pair ‘focused on the latest developments in the Lebanese arena. Ambassador Bukhari emphasized his country’s keenness on Lebanon’s stability and support for enhancing unity and reconciliation among the Lebanese. He stressed the importance of the efforts made by the Quint Committee to assist Lebanon, hoping that these efforts would lead to quick solutions through dialogue with all parties.”

For his part, Mufti Derian stressed the necessity of cooperating with the Quintet Committee, which has presented many constructive proposals and ideas that help reach solutions. He called on political forces to respond to the efforts of the Quintet Committee, which has credibility in dealing with political forces to find solutions that satis
fy everyone.

“Reform begins with the election of a president for the republic and the formation of a strong government, otherwise Lebanon will remain in chaos. If the Lebanese do not help themselves and cooperate with their brothers and friends, we will remain stuck in a vicious circle. This is a waste of time and will lead the country to further collapse and fragmentation,’ Derian concluded.
