Washington – Morocco’s ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, was received Tuesday at the State Department in Washington by the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf.

During this first working meeting, held in the presence of their respective teams, the two officials welcomed the excellent centuries-old and multifaceted relations between Morocco and the United States and discussed the means to further deepen and diversify these ties.

The discussions also focused on the importance of building on achievements and exploring innovative cooperation mechanisms in the view of matching the common ambition of a strengthened political dialogue and strategic partnership.

The talks, which also touched on regional and international issues, have resulted in a broad convergence of views highlighting the desire of the two countries to deepen their joint action in order to promote peace, security and stability in Africa and the Middle East.

The discussions focused on the identifica
tion of synergies that could enhance initiatives regarding global issues of common interest and the promotion of shared prosperity.

Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday received at his Yarzeh office, the Syriac Catholic Patriarch Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan, with whom he discussed various issues.

The army commander later received Tunisian Ambassador to Lebanon, Bouraoui Limam, accompanied by the Military Attaché, Brigadier General Qaiser Safta.

Discussions reportedly touched on the cooperation relations between the armies of both countries.

Maj. Gen. Aoun also met respectively with Chairman of the Parliamentary Defense, Interior and Municipalities Committee, MP Jihad Samad, and MP Mark Daou, over the general situation in the country.
