The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) confirmed on Monday that there are still many lingering challenges hampering the return of internally displaced people (IDPs) to their homes.

Following his visit to Harsham Camp of IDPs in Erbil, Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq Ghulam Muhammad Ishaq Zai said even after nine years have passed there are still challenges impeding the return of 1200 IDPs to their homes.

He added that the challenges include security, housing and opportunities of livelihood and compensations.
