The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the final statement issued by the summit of Sudan’s neighboring countries, which was held on Thursday, 7/13/2023, in Cairo.
The ministry renewed, in a statement, Iraq’s call to the international community to support initiatives aimed at reaching a permanent political solution and forming a Sudanese government that fulfills the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
It affirmed Iraq’s position calling for a complete and sustainable ceasefire.
It also stressed the need to respect Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, not to interfere in its internal affairs, and to deal with the Sudanese crisis as a Sudanese internal matter, in order to avoid fueling conflict, threatening regional peace and security, and endangering the lives of civilians.
