Helicopter Carrying Pilot, 3 State Workers Crashed in US Alaska, No Bodies Found

A helicopter carrying a pilot and three state workers crashed in a shallow lake in Alaskas North Slope region.

The helicopter had been chartered by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources and was carrying three employees from the Division of Geological and Geophysical Survey who had been conducting field work, Alaska Department of Natural Resources said in a statement.

The helicopter, identified as a Bell 206, was reported overdue, and a North Slope Borough search and rescue team discovered wreckage matching the description of the missing helicopter near Wainwright, close to Utqiagvik (formerly Barrow), the northernmost city in the U.S. However, no bodies were found at that time.
