Drug Trafficking: Interpol-Wanted Danish Citizen Arrested in Casablanca Airport (Security Source)

General

Mohammed V International Airport – Police officers at the Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport arrested, on Thursday morning at the request of Danish judicial authorities, a 38-year-old Danish citizen who was the subject of an Interpol red notice for international drug trafficking.

The suspect was arrested as part of a collaboration and intelligence-sharing operation between the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), a security source said.

The internationally-wanted Danish citizen was arrested immediately after his arrival on board a flight from the USA, the source noted, adding that a check against the Interpol database revealed that he was the subject of a red notice for fugitives and that he was wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by the Danish authorities for a case linked to international drug trafficking networks.

The suspect was placed in police custody for the purposes of the investigation and the initiation of extraditio
n procedures supervised by the competent judicial authority.

This operation reflects, once again, the DGSN services’ commitment to promoting and strengthening international security cooperation in the fight against cross-border organized crime, as well as the efficiency of the strategic partnership in the security field between Moroccan and American security authorities.
